MEMPHIS, Tennessee - September 24, 2010 The Mississippi River Corridor – Tennessee (MRCT) announced today the successful completion of a $2 million EPA grant for reducing diesel emissions from the barges and tugboats that travel the Mississippi River. The EPA Technology Grant money was used to fund the application of the Xtrm Cat™ Diesel Oxidation Catalysts on high horsepower marine diesel engines. The project resulted in the estimated elimination of at least 94.3 tons of Particulate Matter (PM) as well as reductions in emissions of other air pollutants.
